COMIC Relief 2019 viewers were delighted by a shock twist in tonight’s much-anticipated Four Weddings and a Funeral sequel that saw “hot lesbian couple” Alicia Vikander and Lily James tie the knot.
The two Hollywood actresses starred in One Red Nose Day And A Wedding earlier this evening.
Lily, 29, played Miranda, the daughter of Charles [Hugh Grant] and Carrie [Andie MacDowell], and Fiona [Kristin Scott Thomas] was 30-year-old Alicia’s character’s mother.
The segment started with Charles preparing to walk his daughter down the aisle as he joked about it being a family tradition to run out on their own weddings.
As Miranda made her way down the aisle, it was soon revealed that she was marrying another woman, with Rowan Atkinson reprising his role of a bumbling priest who continuously fluffs his lines.
The two women poignantly discussed their childhood together, and how they grew up as friends, with Miranda commenting: “My father is your mother’s best friend, we have been to weddings and funerals together.”
Fans praised the BBC for the inclusion of a same-sex marriage in tonight’s charity show, taking to social media to share their approval.
One fan tweeted: “Lily James and Alicia Vikander together? What could I ask more?”
Another quipped: “My husband’s put his glasses on for the first time this evening.”
A third wrote: “Alicia Vikander and Lily James are one hot couple though.”
Another joked: “If Alicia Vikander and Lily James smooching doesn’t get your wallet out, nothing will.”

Richard Curtis, who wrote the original film and is the co-founder of Red Nose Day, wrote the short 2019 sequel of the popular 1994 film especially for Comic Relief, and said of Alicia and Lily’s involvement: “I am delighted to finally be able to reveal that Lily James and Alicia Vikander will appear as our very special guests in One Red Nose Day And A Wedding.
